Will Datafile perform as well in the cloud as on our local server?
In almost every case, yes – and usually better. Our dedicated server infrastructure is significantly more powerful than the typical on-premise server, and we size resources around Datafile’s requirements including stock, reporting and multi-user workloads.
How do we access Datafile in the cloud?
Your team connects to a hosted Windows desktop environment via a lightweight client or browser. Datafile looks and behaves exactly as it does locally – the only difference is it’s running on our servers. Cisco Duo MFA is required at login.
How is the migration from our existing server handled?
We manage the entire migration – data export, environment configuration, import and testing – planned around your schedule. Cutover is typically completed outside business hours to minimise disruption, with full testing before go-live and your existing server left in place until you’re satisfied.
What happens to our Datafile data in a disaster scenario?
Your Datafile environment is backed up daily and retained for 30 days. In the event of a serious infrastructure incident, our recovery time objective is 4 hours – your business can be back up and running within half a working day. We test our recovery procedures regularly.
Who manages Windows updates and Datafile upgrades in the cloud?
We handle all Windows patching, server maintenance and security hardening at platform level. For Datafile version upgrades, we work with you to plan each release, test it where appropriate and deploy it on a schedule that avoids your busy periods.
