Thinking of selling your IT business?
Blowfish Technology is acquiring IT and communications businesses across the North West, Yorkshire, the Midlands and North Wales. If you own one and you’re planning your next step, we’d like to talk.
A safe home for your clients.
We’ve spent years building the systems, processes and certifications that a growing managed service provider needs. Acquisition lets us bring more North West businesses onto that platform, and gives owners a clear exit that looks after the clients they’ve built relationships with.
Your clients move onto an established service with a full team behind it. You get a defined handover and a buyer who understands the industry.
Systems already in place
Service desk, remote monitoring, documentation and password management are already running. Your clients move onto them rather than a new operation being built.
Certified standards
ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 14001, ISO 42001, Cyber Essentials Plus and Microsoft Solutions Partner for Modern Work.
A proven way across
A documented onboarding process and a dedicated IT Onboarding Engineer bring each client across properly.
Local, owner-managed
We’re based in Ormskirk and Liverpool, and we want to grow a local presence in each area we buy into.
Sell the business. Stay part of the team.
We’d love owners to stay with us. As Blowfish expands into new areas, the people who built the client relationships there are the best people to help us grow them.
Selling doesn’t have to mean walking away from work you enjoy. Many owners want to keep doing the job without carrying the business on their own, and we want that too.
Help lead your area
Use your clients and local knowledge to help build Blowfish’s presence in your region as we expand there.
Keep doing what you’re good at
Stay close to your clients and the technical work, without the finance, HR and admin of running a company.
A bigger team behind you
Our service desk, engineers, certifications and systems support you and your clients from day one.
Or step back on your terms
If you’d rather retire, we’ll agree a handover period that introduces your clients to us properly.
Businesses with recurring clients.
We’re looking for businesses selling recurring IT or communications services to SMEs, with clients similar to our own. Recurring client contracts matter more to us than premises or current profit.
Managed service providers and IT support
MSPs and IT support companies with clients on monthly or annual contracts.
Fits Managed IT Services
Telecoms, VoIP and connectivity
Resellers with a recurring base of lines, calls and licences.
Fits Communications
Microsoft 365 and cloud consultancies
Consultancies with ongoing licence and support contracts.
Fits Cloud Services
No particular technology stack is needed. Every business we acquire moves onto our platform, so it doesn’t matter which PSA, RMM or security tools you use today.
Our acquisition area.
We’re looking at UK businesses inside a boundary running from Lancaster across to Leeds, down through Sheffield, Derby and Stafford, and back to Wrexham.
Businesses closest to Ormskirk and Liverpool come first, then Greater Manchester and Cheshire, then Yorkshire and the Midlands. A business further out is still worth a conversation if its client base is strong.
What makes a strong match.
The best fit is an owner-managed business with clean contracts, well-looked-after clients and an owner who’s ready for what comes next.
What we look for
What you don’t need
Good clients, fixable problems.
We’re also interested in businesses that are finding things hard. If your clients are good and the problems are operational, our systems, team and certifications can usually fix them.
Contracts priced too low
Our service and support structure lets clients see the value of a fairer price at renewal.
Tool and licence costs
Clients move onto our platform, so duplicate tools and licences can be cancelled.
Everything rests on you
Our team and onboarding process take over the day-to-day client relationships.
Documentation and security
We bring client environments up to our ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus standards.
Where a business has debts or disputes, buying the trade and assets rather than the company can still make a deal possible.
From first call to handover.
Every deal is different, but most follow the same path.
An initial conversation
A confidential chat about your business, your clients and what you want from a sale.
A first look
We review your client contracts, recurring revenue and how your clients are supported today.
An offer
Based on your recurring revenue and the business once it’s part of Blowfish.
Due diligence
We work through contracts, client environments and documentation together.
Completion and handover
You introduce us to your clients over an agreed handover period, then stay on with the team or step back.
100% ownership
We acquire the whole business, usually through a share purchase. We don’t take minority or majority stakes.
Shares or trade and assets
For some businesses, buying the trade and assets (client contracts, goodwill and staff) is the better route. Transferring staff are protected under TUPE.
Upfront and deferred
An upfront payment, plus deferred payments linked to client retention over the first 12 to 24 months.
Be the next company added to the Blowfish shoal.
If you’re thinking about selling, or just want to understand your options, let’s have a confidential conversation. No pressure, no obligation.
