IRIS Cloud Hosting FAQs
Will IRIS perform as well in the cloud as on our local server?
In almost every case, yes – and typically better. Our dedicated server infrastructure is sized specifically for IRIS performance, with the memory and I/O characteristics IRIS needs during peak January and year-end workloads.
How do we access IRIS in the cloud?
Your team connects to a hosted Windows desktop environment via a lightweight client or browser. The full IRIS suite – Accounts Production, Personal Tax, Business Tax and Practice Management – looks and behaves exactly as it does locally. Cisco Duo MFA is required at login.
How is the migration from our existing IRIS environment handled?
We manage the entire migration – data export, environment configuration, import and testing – planned around your practice calendar. Migrations are typically completed outside filing seasons to minimise disruption, with full testing before go-live and your existing environment left in place until you’re satisfied.
What happens to our IRIS data in a disaster scenario?
Your IRIS environment is backed up daily and retained for 30 days. In the event of a serious infrastructure incident, our recovery time objective is 4 hours – your practice can be back up and running within half a working day. We test our recovery procedures regularly.
Who manages IRIS version upgrades and Windows updates in the cloud?
We handle all Windows patching, server maintenance and security hardening at platform level. For IRIS version updates, we work with you to plan each release, test it where appropriate and deploy it on a schedule that avoids filing deadlines and busy periods.
Can we add or remove users as our practice changes?
Yes. Hosted IRIS access is billed per-user per-month, so you can add seasonal staff for January and scale back after. New users are typically provisioned within one working day, pre-configured with IRIS access and any related apps your practice uses.
